Router configurations on a saturday (25-07-15)

Recently, the router at the office was acting weird. The netgear quad wan router (NETGEAR ProSafe™ Gigabit Quad WAN SSL VPN Firewall SRX5308) was constantly dropping packets after 10 to 20 pings. That seems to be the root of the problem with users accessing into the system complaining system was quiting after keying in a single GRN and also remote desktop systems was working then freezing all the time. The Dual WAN model has been constantly bugging me as well. Engenius routers have also been doing the same thing. So what is the problem with them? Previously when I was using Engenius router I upgraded the firmware version and all the settings for the port forwarding went haywire. I guess for the netgear quad wan and the dual wan router is having similar problems. After a long time we just updated and made changes to the firewall and port forwarding and vpn and other settings and we conveniently just backup and restored the settings. So after that the router didn’t seem to function properly even if you stopped disable and didn’t on the services. The router also became less responsive after the settings restore. The solution to this seems to be to reset the router to default settings and NOT RESTORE THE BACKUP. Go through the settings and key the settings in one by one. Just tried out. It seems responsive and I am going to monitor the results for the next few days.
